Midmar Mile held in Kwazulu Natal South Africa, is the worlds largest open water swimming event. The distance covered is always a mile, 13000 swimmers, 8 batches over 2 days, 2 minute intervals. Midmar Mile draws thousands of competitors each year both serious international athletes and Olympic medallists to recreational swimmers.
